Our School
Chalmers Mackay music school was established in 1988 by Ruby Mackay.
We provide excellent musical tuition for all age groups and abilities. We specialise in piano, keyboard, guitar, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, vocals, drumkit, ukulele, accordion, chanter, bagpipes, banjo and more…
We pride ourselves on offering pupils a chance to flourish musically in a friendly and encouraging environment. Music is a major intrinsic part of everyday life for most people. It is a valuable source of enjoyment and reward - it’s incredible what can be gleaned from playing, singing, moving or listening to music. Adopting a love of music can pave the way for a great future career in teaching, performing, musical therapy, early learning, musical theatre … the list is endless. Basically, anyone can give it a go if there’s an interest there. Many of our students have gone on to have successful careers in music.
Tuition
At Chalmers Mackay, we offer an assessment lesson initially. A package of 8 lessons then follows as a trial run to let the pupil give their choice of instrument / voice a chance to progress over an adequate period of time.
Our Tutors
All lessons at the Chalmers Mackay Music School are provided by vetted and experienced Staff who are specialists in your chosen instrument.
Practice Rooms & Recording
Located at our Kintore Annexe we have a number of dedicated practice rooms for you to perfect your craft at your own pace.
Bands Programme
We at Chalmers Mackay are very proud to be able to offer a Bands Programme for current Music School pupils who want to take part in group playing. One-to-one lessons are just the starting point for musical development, once a pupil shows progress and interest in playing with others our Bands Programme is the perfect opportunity for keen players to move into another level. Interested pupils should get advice from their tutors on this, or contact the office.
Mobi Music
Our brand new mobile music service will be taking to the road to provide pre-school youngsters with an introduction to music and drama through an exciting new approach delivered by our talented specialist team. We travel to your location within the North-East of Scotland area at a convenient time for you, on a weekly or monthly basis, or whatever suits your requirements. All tutors are qualified and registered with the E.I.S. Free taster sessions are on offer from August onwards to all Nurseries, Playgroups, Crèches, pre-school learning establishments.
